The Protector

Where the veil between worlds wears thin, the One True sets a guardian. The Protector is that guardian for Newport Maeve — an angelic warrior who does not act from mercy but from duty, holding the city's seams against the things that would tear through. Patient, unyielding, and bound by laws older than the Confederacy itself, the Protector watches a city that does not know it is being watched.
